A 78-year-old woman in Gutu has been arrested on murder charges after she fatally struck a 19-year-old woman for sleeping out.
ZRP spokesperson Paul Nyathi confirmed that the unnamed woman was arrested over the incident which took place this week Monday in Serima Village, Gutu. The young lady had slept out the previous night, prompting the granny who apparently was related to the girl to mete out instant justice.
Nyathi said the grandmother struck the girl with a stick and she fell headlong onto a metal bed, leading to her excessive bleeding and subsequent death.
The accused is assisting police with investigations and will appear in court soon.
