AN 11-year-old girl was raped on four different occasions at parties organised by her auntie, who then ignored all reports of rape the girl made to her.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the incidents and said an 18-year-old male resident of Beitbridge has since been arrested in connection with the rape incidents and investigations are ongoing.
“The ZRP warns relatives against hosting parties in which the girl child ends up being raped.
“On Wednesday, 11 August 2021, Police in BietBridge arrested a suspect (18) in connection with four counts of rape where he raped a minor (11) on four different occasions at birthday parties, organised by the victim’s aunt who went on to ignore the reports made to her,” said police.
Meanwhile, ZRP is investigating a road traffic accident which occurred at the 101km peg along Masvingo- Beitbridge Road where 10 passengers were injured.
The accident occurred after the driver of a DNC Coaches bus which was towing a trailer, with 20 passengers on board, lost control of the bus and veered off the road before overturning once and landed on its side.
According to a police statement, the driver is being charged for negligent driving and violating COVID-19 regulations.
