POLICE in Glenview suburb, Harare, have arrested a 13-year-old boy who allegedly murdered a 10-year-old from the same neighbourhood during a football match.
ZRP national spokesperson Paul Nyathi said the assault incident took place on 10 August, but the victim died of the injuries two weeks later.
“Police in Harare are investigating circumstances surrounding a murder case in which a male juvenile (10) died upon admission at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on 25 August 2021,” said Nyathi.
“The victim was assaulted by the suspect (13) while playing football at a borehole in Glenview on 10 August 2021.”
In other news, unknown assailants pounced on a motorist in Bulawayo midnight this week Monday and took away his car, cash and belongings.
The man who was driving a Nissan Tilda motor vehicle was attacked by two suspects who then stole the vehicle, US$400 cash and other valuables, police say.
“The suspects also stole US$320 cash, cellphone and laptop from the victim’s girlfriend who was accompanying him.
“The vehicle was later recovered dumped at a flea market along Lobengula Street. Investigations are in progress.”
Nyathi urged motorists to observe and comply with the Government’s Covid-19 curfew regulations. □
