LoriMak founder Richard Makoni dies

LORIMAK Human Resources Consultants founder and top Harare businessman Richard Takaedzwa Zambe Makoni has died.

Family sources confirmed to HourlyHits that Makoni, who founded LoriMak in 1994 and went on to start other viable projects which are still operational, was no more.

He was married with three children.

Further details were still being verified at the time of publishing.

Makoni set up LoriMak to become one of the leading providers of human resources consultation services in Zimbabwe. LoriMak has its headquarters in Harare and a regional office in Lusaka, Zambia and in South Africa.

United Refineries Limited chief executive Busisa Moyo mourned Makoni saying he was a top-notch human resources legend whose death is a huge loss for Zimbabwe.

“We worked a lot with Richard when I was at TA Holdings and I still consulted him on many human resources matters. May the Makoni family find strength from the Lord to go through this painful loss.

“To the LoriMak Team may the Lord bring comfort to you. Zimbabwe has lost an HR legend!” said Moyo, who sits on President Mnangagwa’s advisory panel.

The Richard consulted on the African continent and understood human behaviour in the work context, Moyo said.

Makoni held a BA degree and a BSc Special Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe.

Apart from LoriMak, Makoni was the founder and owner of the several companies consolidated under his Right-hand Investments. These include LoriMak Africa Consulting (RSA), Eden Leisure Group, Eden Lodge, Valley Fern, Rimaunga Estates and others.

Makoni also sat on numerous company boards including banks, public organizations, State-owned institutions and the Transparency International Zimbabwe, among others.
