Armed robbers vanish with US$60 000 meant for Tongogara refugees

TWO suspected armed robbers allegedly got away with more than US$60 000 on Tuesday evening after they highjacked a security vehicle carrying money meant for food provisions at Tongogara Refugee Camp.
Camp administrator Johanne Mhlanga confirmed the incident saying it has left the institution in a dire situation.
According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the armed robbers overpowered the six security guards who were armed with two rifles and took from them motor vehicle keys, keys for the safe affixed to the vehicle and a cellphone at gun point.
The suspects are yet to be apprehended.
