EVER since Madonna planted that wet kiss on fellow American pop star Britney Spears in front of millions of television viewers at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, women have been loosening up sexually with other women.
These so-called flexisexuals say that although they are not gay or even bisexual, they enjoy flirting and kissing girls — but they still enjoy having sex with men.
But could this be the case with Zimbabwe’s own hottie, influencer and businesswoman Pokello who got caught on camera kissing her bestie popularly known as Tanya the Therapist?
The short video clip has already sent social media into overdrive with many questioning if the two are lesbians or just flexisexuals – girls who kiss other girls but like to have sex with males.
The video sparked mixed reactions as some social media users said there was nothing wrong with the kiss since it was just a perk on the lips. A number of men were, however, got quite unnerved by the video and questioned how two beautiful ladies could possibly choose to be each other’s kissers in a world so full of men.
An expert on social issues who spoke to HourlyHits said flexisuxualism is a relatively new phenomenon and is likely a product of a generation unconcerned with labels.
“Wome are getting more flexible in their attitudes about sex, even here in Zimbabwe. Apart from our conservative society, the ladies are only held back by the fear that a future employer might Google their sexual escapades, hence such behaviours are only in the closet for now.
“These young women may be getting influenced by the growing visibility of same-sex couples and more open attitudes about sex in general,” said the Harare-based social scientist.
She added that more sexual experimentation occurs when people have not yet found a partner, before they settle into monogamous relationships.
Another Zimbabwean commented: “I think girls kiss girls to draw attention from guys, who think it’s sexy and seductive.”
