Zera announces new fuel prices for January 2022

By Shami Lynette Makombe

THE Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has reviewed fuel prices as it also reduced the mandatory blending ratio from E10 to E0.

In essence, the price of petrol only came down by a cent while the price of diesel remained stagnant from the December figure.

The lifting of blending ratios would come as a relief to the motoring public which condemned the use of ethanol arguing that it made petrol more expensive and it was also damaging vehicles.

Motorists bemoaned that with blending, a litre of petrol no longer met the expected distance travelled on consumption, meaning more fuel was being consumed per kilometre travelled beyond their comprehension.

Last month, Zera had reduced the mandatory blending ratio from E20 to E10.
