5 African first ladies who cheated on their powerful husbands

CHEATING has been fingered as one of the key reasons why most marriage partnerships are collapsing today in the world.

Beyond material possessions or looks, cheating has been investigated when people cheat on partners who appear to have it all, like money or great looks.

Naturally, it would happen that only normal individuals will suffer from cheating heartbreaks and Presidents can not experience this, but this fascinating post begs to differ.

We are presenting you with a list of African Presidents whose wives have cheated on them.

  1. Nothando Dube

Nothando Dube, the twelfth wife of Swazi King Mswati III, was reportedly embroiled in a sexual scandal in 2011 when news circulated across the world about her infidelity.

Swaziland’s King Mswati III arrives for the annual Reed Dance at Ludzidzini in Swaziland August 30, 2010. During the eight day ceremony, virgin girls cut reeds and present them to the queen mother. The Reed Dance also allows Mswati to choose a wife if he wishes. Mswati currently has 13 wives. Picture taken August 30, 2010. Allegedly, Nothando Dube was captured with Ndumiso Mamba, the country’s Minister of Justice. She died in South Africa in March 2019 after living an unhappy life from the moment the King married her at 16.

  1. Nompumelelo Zuma

Nompumeleo Ntuli Zuma, is the second wife in a polygamous marriage to former South African President Jacob Zuma.

There were allegations of Nompumeleo Ntuli Zuma having an affair with her bodyguard in June 2010.

The then first lady’s bodyguard, Phinda Thomo, was found dead under questionable circumstances in his apartment afterwards.

  1. Winnie Madikizela Mandela

Former South African first lady Winnie Madikizela Mandela, also known just as Winnie Mandela, reportedly had an affair with Dali Mpofu, her deputy in the social welfare department of the African National Congress (ANC).

This was during Nelson Mandela’s long stay in prison, and it became of the main factors that led to her widely publicized divorce.

Mandela declared that Madikizela-Mandela was seeking a divorce and accused her of having an affair with a younger colleague, Dali Mpofu.

  1. Vera Chiluba

From 1991 until her separation from her then husband, President Frederick Chiluba, Vera Chiluba served as the First Lady of Zambia.

Zambia’s President, Frederick Chiluba, ordered his wife, Vera, to leave their presidential home after accusing her of having an affair with a famous businessman, Mactribouy Archie.

Shamed, lonely and disgraced, Vera subsequently suffered a stroke.

  1. Grace Mugabe

Grace Mugabe was the wife of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe between the mid 1990s (at least officially) and his death in September 2019.

The infamous Harare rumour mill had it that she had a secret affair with Reserve Bank Governor Gideon Gono, who was a close friend and associate of Mugabe.

Other reports say black empowerment icon proponent Peter Pamire, who later died in a mysterious car accident, was having an affair with Grace.

Subsequent to that, reports emerged in the early 2000s that Grace, after Pamire had died, was now seeing another successful entrepreneur Jame Makamba.

Fearing for his life, Makamba then fled the country after their affair became somewhat public, and with him having been detained for weeks over some “financial crime”.

After Mugabe was toppled from power, Makamba opened up saying he feared Mugabe’s henchmen would tear him apart over the allegations.
