PROMINENT preacher Uebert Angel has paid scholarships for more than 400 college students and has asked those facing tuition fees challenges and colleges and universities to apply for consideration into the scholarship programme.
The scholarship programme targets to support 10 000 scholars nationwide.
Angel was appointed the Presidential Envoy and Ambassador at Large (OPEAAL) by President Mnangagwa last year and has been actively helping the underprivileged though the Uebert Angel Foundation.
Angel’s works of philanthropy aims at paying tuition for 10 000 university and college students countrywide.
“In honor and in support for H.E President Mnangagwa work in developing the country, 200 more university students benefit from the OPEAAL Presidential Scholarship sponsored by H.E Uebert Angel through personal funds, bringing the total number of students to 400 since the inception,” Angel’s office said Tuesday.
He said rendering such assistance is part of him answering the call by President Mnangagwa to assist Zimbabweans, especially from disadvantaged backgrounds access tertiary education.
Early this month, Angel’s office announced that he had pledged US$1 million towards various charity activities in Zimbabwe for 2022, including paying tuition fees for students at tertiary institutions countrywide.
“Ambassador Uebert Angel has pledged US$1million to help Zimbabweans through the Uebert Angel Foundation. This is the Second time around that Ambassador has shown generosity across the country with over 279 trips helping the less privileged.
“Ambassador Angel has promised to cover tuition fees, startups, help small scale farmers and charity.
“Over 5000 students where recipients of his scholarship fund last year. This year, University students facing challenges with tuition are more likely to benefit from these initiatives,” the office announced.
“The initiative is aiming at paying tuition for 10 000 Universities and colleges by year end.
