We are a staunch Zanu PF family: Kadewere enters Zanu PF election race

ZIMBABWE Warriors international, France-based Tino Kadewere’s elder brother, Prosper Kadewere has joined Zimbabwe’s political arena and is set to contest in the upcoming Zanu PF primary elections slated for Thursday.

Kadewere indicated in an interview with Nehanda Radio that he was confident of a victory and was not a novice in the hard hat poltical zone.

He will not be the first one in his family to join the ruling party as he says his parents were staunch Zanu PF supporters.

“I am a firm member of the Zanu PF party because I was born and bred by a Zanu PF supporting family. My father used to be a member of the party before he left the world in 2013 and my mother is still a Zanu PF,” Kadewere went on to reveal.

“I started politics in 2013 when I used to be a runner for a number of government officials and other politicians. I was sent in different places,” he said.

The brother to the Olympique Lyone’s forward is contesting for Ward 24 Highfield East, Harare nominee councillor for Zanu PF ahead of the by-elections slated for March 26

The by-elections seek to fill in 28 National Assembly vacancies together with 105 local authority seats of individuals, most of whom were sacked by the Douglas Mwonzora led MDC-T faction.

A campaign poster of Kadewere clad in Zanu PF regalia and raising his fist – the ruling party symbol – is already circulating on social media.

Meanwhile, the upcoming primary elections were confirmed by the Zanu PF political commissar Mike Bimha last Saturday in Harare.

There are slated to take place on Thursday.

The polls are held ahead of the March 26 by-elections where 28 National Assembly vacancies together with 105 local authority seats need to be filled in.
