Minister mourns teacher who died in ZUPCO buses accident

Rusape- Ministry of Local Government, public works and national housing Deputy Minister Marian Chombo has mourned a teacher Diana Marowa who died in the accident involving Zupco busses at 101 kilometer peg along Harare-Chirundu Highway when the Zupco buses collided head-on.

43 year old Marowa who was a teacher at Newlands Primary School located a few meters from the accident scene.

Marowa was reading to disembark from the bus as she was traveling to her school from Chinhoyi when tragedy struck after the Zupco bus driver attempted to overtake a haulage truck on a blind rise resulting in a head on collision with an incoming Zupco bus that was traveling to Zvipani from Harare resulting in the death of four people with dozens.

The late teacher was working at Newlands Primary School located in Zvimba North Costituency along the Harare-Chirundu Highway, a few meters from the accident scene.

Minister Chombo said the death of Marowa was a huge set back not only for the School but of Zvimba North Costituency and the nation at large.

“I learnt of the death of our dedicated teacher and others in the unfortunate accident which could have been avoided had basic road regulations been followed and as Zvimba North Costituency we have lost a dedicated teacher and its a huge loss to our education sector ” she said

Chombo wished those injured in the accident a speedy recovery.
