The EFF leader has been bullish about his prospects before, as the Red Berets prepare to celebrate their ninth birthday later this month.
Party commander Julius Malema believes South Africa is now heading down an avenue which ends in him becoming the elected Head of State.
Malema revealed this when he appeared on MacG’s Podcast and Chill on Monday, where he addressed a range of questions. Amongst other things, the political firebrand claimed that his first ever interaction with a white person only took place when he entered Parliament.
The 41-year-old also poked fun at the Operation Dudula movement, arguing that they are motivated by self-hate only. When pressed for his thoughts on their leader, Nhlanhla Lux, Malema simply asked; ‘who is he?’
When the topic shifted towards his presidential ambitions, Malema was much more forthcoming and bullish, saying: “Will I be president? Yes, that’s where we are going.
“Why are you asking obvious questions? Eventually, I want to be remembered as a person who helped people, as a person who turned those who were called ‘nothing’ into something.”
Depending on your political affiliation, the thought of a Julius Malema presidency will either fill you with hope of dread. The controversial figure did, however, ponder his own mortality as the EFF’s head honcho – and he accepts that there will come a time where he must consider stepping down.
