A Harare magistrate has dismissed opposition politician Job Sikhala’s application against continued placement on remand in a much anticipated ruling delivered at the Rotten Row Magistrate’s courts this Thursday morning.
The Zengeza West MP Sikhala (CCC), who is in remand prison on charges of inciting supporters to commit violence, is to be taken back to Chikurubi Maximum Prison.
He also faces new charges of defeating or obstructing the course of justice over claims he sought to mislead police officers investigating the abduction and murder of Citizens Coalition for Change activist Moreblessing Ali.
After the presiding magistrate dismissed Sikhala’s application challenging his placement on remand, his lawyers immediately indicated they will now apply for him to be granted bail for the obstruction of justice case.
This article has been edited to correct the error which indicated that it was a bail application. We sincerely regret the error.
