Residents in western suburbs of Harare are facing three days consecutive without running water after the Harare City City announced a planned shutdown of the Morton Jaffray’s Waterworks.
A statement by the city’s acting town clerk, dated 19 July 2022, advises that the planned shutdown is from 6.00pm Thursday to 6.00pm Sunday this week. The city’s public works department will be carrying out scheduled maintenance to the pumps during this period.
The planned shutdown of the pumps comes as the city workmen will also be servicing two lines which feed the Lochnivar and Marimba reservoir.
“Affected areas include Kuwadzana, Mufakose, Glen View, Glen Norah, parts of Willowvale, Budiriro and other surrounding suburbs and areas.
“Residents in the affected areas are advised to use water sparingly during this period,” the city advised.
Residents in the affected will rely on boreholes in their neighborhoods, although some of them are no longer working while others were condemned as contaminated and unfit for human consumption.
