Ahoy the new iPhone 14 and 14 Pro!
The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro are expected to be very different devices when they are launched in the coming weeks, with news that Apple is doubling down on favoring the more expensive Pro models swirling.
Apple is expected to replace its current iPhone 13 lineup in the usual September window.
For the iPhone 14, there will be six colors at launch. That’s the same number as are available for the iPhone 13 now. And they are, white, black, green, red, blue and purple.
The end of the iPhone ‘mini’
According to reports, the iPhone 14 will see the end of the iPhone ‘mini’ in favor of a new ‘Max’-sized regular iPhone. This promises to be one of the biggest changes, as otherwise the design of the device isn’t expected to change.
Apple reportedly has far less planned for the regular iPhone compared to the ‘Pro’, which could get a new processor and won’t have a notch. A new always-on display could also make an appearance.
Big camera upgrades across the board are also rumored. Here are the details on Apple’s next best iPhone!
iPhone 14 possible release date
The iPhone 14 is expected to debut in the usual September launch window, alongside of the Apple Watch Series 8. There have been reports of supply chain struggles, with both the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Max models “a month behind schedule”, but this is not expected to delay the device at all, although it could make the larger ‘Max’ versions of the iPhone harder to get hold off at launch.
An educated guess would peg the iPhone 14 launch event for Tuesday, September 13, with pre-orders at the end of the week and a release date the following week. If that’s too long to wait, then these iPhone deals are a fantastic shout for getting a new phone at the best possible price.
Loads of features!
The iPhone 13 mini is expected to be the last mini iPhone. Instead, this year Apple will reportedly ditch the diminutive iPhone in favor of a second regular max-sized iPhone.
The iPhone 14 Pro models may feature a titanium frame instead of a stainless steel frame, and redesigned speaker and microphone grilles are a possibility.
Apple could also use a new vapor chamber thermal system that will keep the iPhone cooler to minimize the impact of faster chips and 5G connectivity.
New iPhones always include camera improvements, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. There will be improvements to the Ultra Wide camera, and there’s a possibility that Apple will introduce a “periscope” zoom lens that allows for much greater optical zoom, but it’s still not yet clear if this will come in 2022 or 2023.
The Pro iPhone models are expected to get 48-megapixel cameras and 8K video recording capabilities, but these features will not be available on the standard iPhone 14 models.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 14 models are likely to continue to use the same A15 chip that was introduced in the iPhone 13 series, while the iPhone 14 Pro models receive an updated A16 chip. This would mark the first time that the Pro iPhone models get a faster chip, with Apple perhaps going this route to cut down on costs and also because of ongoing supply issues.
Apple is expected to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 chip, which is the first 10-gigabit 5G modem with faster connectivity speeds and connectivity improvements. Alongside the X65, Apple is expected to introduce new satellite-based emergency features that will let users send texts in emergency situations and report accidents with no cellular coverage.
