A Saudi man has been married 53 times to different women since he was 20 – and he did it to save himself from immorality.
The 63-year-old Abu Abdullah also said this was not about personal pleasure but rather to find “peace and stability”.
The shortest marriage out of the 53 only lasted one night. Abdullah didn’t say what the cause of that was.
Abdullah said his first marriage was to a woman who was six years older than him.
“During the first marriage I had no plans to marry more than one woman. I felt comfortable with her and we had a baby,” he said in an interview with a Saudi TV station MBC.
However, after a few years, the couple experienced marital problems and Abdullah decided to marry a second wife. He was 23 at the time.
But that proved to not be as happy as he had hoped – so he married a third – and soon after a fourth.
“I later divorced my first three wives because I wanted to be married to a woman who could make me happy,” he said.
Most of Abdullah’s marriages were to Saudi women but he has also married foreigners during his business trips overseas.
“I used to stay for three to four months. So I married to protect myself from sexual immorality,” Abdullah said.
Abu said he is currently only married to one woman and that he does not plan to remarry.
“Every man in the world wishes to have one woman and remain with her forever. Stability is not to be found with a young woman, but with an old one,” he advised.
It appears that Abu was never asked if he ever thought that, in 53 marriages over a period of 40 years, that he may possibly have contributed to the problem. – Online
