The Manager of this department should be able to :

Translate the focus and direction and strategy into a working, always available IT department.
Ensure that all remote offices are online and operational through loadshedding and other infrastructure challenges.
Able to design and report on critical IT operational statistics.
Have knowledge of IT requirements in education, retail, manufacturing and distribution industries.
Able to motivate, support, manage performance of a small, dedicated team to ensure delivery in a high paced environment.

Software that the IT department support :

Microsoft Windows 10 and 8, as well as older Windows Vista,
MS Office 365 Kaspersky,
Symantec Backup Exec,
Windows server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012R2,
Google Classroom,
Following industry specific software applications for support purposes :

Fitting Guides,
GSI Software (Audera, Audiostar, GSI Suite, Audiotrac),
Audioscan and other custom software used in the group, e.g., Adobe Connect and Saspac used at Eduplex.

The key qualities, skills, abilities, attitudes and previous experience required in a candidate for the IT Operations Manager position, include the following :

Ability to listen to his / her team members and communicate instructions effectively.
Ability to lead, direct and control team members.
Ability to handle multiple jobs at the same time.
In-depth knowledge of computer usage.
Ability to always pay attention to details and encourage team members to do the same.
Ability to take proactive steps in managing problems.

Effective verbal, presentation and listening communications skills.Effective written communications skills.Diploma or degree in computer science or equivalent with minimum of 10 years’ experience in IT support, administration or operations.Experience in IT and / or telecommunications systems operations and support.
