Institute for Security Studies (ISS) Is Recruiting: Justice and Violence Prevention Internships 2023 – South Africa

The ISS seeks to appoint an intern based in Cape Town to support its Evidence-Based Policing (EBP) project. The work aims to improve South African policing by promoting the understanding and application of evidence-based practices. The intern will support research, writing, planning, facilitation and communication tasks linked to the project’s goals. The intern will report to a senior researcher.

Overview of Requirements:

A strong desire to improve policing and public safety in South Africa
A post-graduate degree in a relevant field is preferred (e.g.;-
Criminology,
Social Policy,

Political Science, Sociology, and
Related areas
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in additional South African languages will be an advantage

Excellent research, writing and analytical abilities

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Independent, open-minded, creative and proactiveFamiliarity with evidence-based practice, programme evaluation, and/or policing will be an advantage

This Internship will be until 31 December 2023. A monthly stipend will be offered.
