Job Purpose

Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion of specialised electrical maintenance tasks,attending to the repair, construction, maintenance, testing electrical mains, electrical plant, apparatus etc and, attending to routine/general administrative recording requirements.

Key Responsibility Areas

Performs specific pre-work/site requirements with regards to repairs and maintenance sequences.

Undertakes the construction, maintenance, operation, repair and testing of electrical mains,reticulation, ancillary equipment and electrical plant in all Municipal owned and Council owned buidings.

Verifies that all work is completed within scheduled limits and original cost estimates.

Maintains and improves the safety performance of the Electrical Services Building Branch in all respects and promotes the same.

Ensures and maintains that all electrical installations are undertaken in accordance with relevant provisions of the Chapter 25 of the Town Clerks Standing Orders and the SABS Code of Practice for the Wiring of the Premises 0142-1993 (as revised).

Takes timeous action on all unsafe electrical installations. Erects and operates stage lighting and other associated equipment after consulting with persons/organisations hiring the hall, including the setting up and dismantling of stage equipment.

Orders necessary materials and equipment and maintains stock for any planned/unplanned work.

Transports staff and materials to and from relevant work sites.

Undertakes emergency work as necessary and works outside normal working hours depending on duration of shows being held.

Compiles internal transaction documentation and related forms

Essential Requirements

Advanced Technical certification or modules- NQF Level 4 or completed a recognised apprenticeship.

Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code B).

2 Years relevant experience

Preferred Requirements

3 Years relevant experience.
