CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To maintain the orderliness of Information Resources in the Library collection by ensuring efficient and accurate shelving, shelf-reading, moving collection and inventory control.
To work as part of a team, performing Information related tasks and customer services to library users.

Retrieving Information Resources
Shelf reading and Inventory Control
Providing Information Services to users
CORE COMPETENCIES
Knowledge of NMU and departmental structures, policies and procedures.
Computer literacy
In-depth knowledge, understanding and interpretation of the Library of Congress (LC) alphanumeric sequence for correct shelving and retrieving of all library material.
Ability to work well under pressure, frequent interruptions and /or distractions when attending to demands of users.
Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one to another as requested and accepting new challenges and responsibilities.
Physical ability to perform all duties effectively.
Consistent accuracy in shelving, performing fast, accurately in order to minimize errors and user complaints.
Good customer relations and commitment to excellent customer service.
Good team playing and self-management of work schedule to achieve desired results.
REQUIREMENTS
In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must possess:
Grade 12 (Matriculation Certificate)
Must have 2 years’ experience in the academic environment.
