Distell Limited Is Recruiting: Restaurant Intern – Nederburg – South Africa

Purpose of the Position:

The intention of the internship is to provide practical work experience to students who are in their final year of study and require exposure to the work environment or have a prerequisite to have practical work experience in order to obtain a qualification. Successful interns will be expected to enter into a 12-month contract.

Key Performance areas include, but are not limited to the following:

Active involvement in the management of all aspects of the Nederburg Tasting Room guest experiences, conferences and restaurant operations, with a great focus on service excellence

Conduct tastings, serve guests in the restaurant environment, host, supervise staff

Assist the Operations Manager in the implementation of functions and events

Support management through active involvement in the development of new revenue streams to optimize profitActive involvement in the promotion and sales of destination offerings, experiences, and products

Drive database, newsletter and taste learn and discover sign ups

Implementation of the Integrated Brandhome consumer engagement planImplement activation strategies to achieve consumer engagement and create memorable experiencesDrive efficiencies and maintain operational excellence

Ensure effective stock take and cash handling and minimizing losses and enforce procedures and systems
Responsible for Consumer and Corporate VIP satisfaction with the Brand Home experience
The successful implementation of special VIP visits and events
Conducting informative wine tastings
Assist to reach awareness, sales, and visitor scores

Active involvement in daily banking and cash floats .General administration, procurement, budgeting, ordering of supplies and maintaining minimum stock on hand levelsAssist the Operations Manager in the implementation of quality systems procedures

To qualify for selection and participation in this programme, candidates must satisfy the following criteria:

Final year of obtaining tertiary qualification – degree / diploma;(Hotel management, restaurant, Sommelier, food and beverage management student)
Computer literacy – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Sound communication and presentation skills

Effective time management
Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
Ability to work in a team
South African citizen
Able to travel locally and have own reliable transport
Successful interns will be expected to enter into a 12-month contract
Own reliable transport
Work after hours and most weekends
