Stellenbosch University Is Hiring: General Assistant – South Africa

Purpose

SACEMA is hiring a general assistant to be based in Stellenbosch.
The incumbent will be required to help with the general upkeep of the office, assist with venue setup and welcome packs for SACEMAs training activities and meetings, and prepare refreshments for visitors and stakeholders.
Requirements
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification;
Experience in office cleaning;
Recommendation: Experience in working in a similar environment.

Skills & Competencies


Basic computer skills;
Good interpersonal skills;
The ability to work flexible hours;
The ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Responsibilities
Cleaning the reception area and kitchen daily before 09h00;
Cleaning all offices, including seminar room. This includes:
Sweeping and mopping the floors;
Vacuuming the carpets at least once per week;

Dusting and polishing office furniture at least weekly, taking care not to disorganise documents and papers on desks, etc.;
Emptying dustbins daily;
Cleaning internal glass doors and windows daily and exterior doors and windows as required.
Cleaning bathrooms daily:
Cleaning basins and toilets and ensuring that bathrooms are sanitary;
Sweeping and mopping floors;
Emptying dustbins;
Ensuring that the air freshener, toilet paper and soap dispensers are kept filled;
Ensuring that hand towels are changed daily.

Cleaning outside entrance areas and garden furniture daily as required.
Monitoring kitchen and cleaning supplies and ensuring timeous ordering thereof:
Storing all cleaning equipment and products neatly in the designated cupboards;
Monitoring stocks of cleaning and kitchen supplies and informing line manager at least one week in advance if stocks need replenishing.
Preparing tea/coffee/refreshments for visitors and stakeholders;
Assisting with setup and welcome packs for training activities and meetings:
Assisting with venue setup;
Assisting with welcome packs and name tags.

Acting as messenger and running minor errands;
Assisting with filing and other ad hoc administrative tasks as required by the line manager;
Assisting with monitoring the CCTV station and gate access for visitors.
