SANBI Is Hiring: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR: REVENUE AND FINANCIAL REPORTING (Salary:RR393 711.00) – Cape Town

The South African National Biodiversity Institute’s (SANBI) Finance Division requires a highly professional person to assist in ensuring that there is accurate recording of revenue and reporting of accounting information in line with current laws and regulations, and to plan, coordinate and implement a system for accurate accounting and reporting of SANBI’s revenue and other financial information in ensuring good corporate governance in accordance with King IV and other regulatory requirements.

This position requires a degree in in Financial Management, Accounting Science or equivalent qualification with NQF 7. A postgraduate degree or equivalent degree at NQF 8 will be an added advantage. This position also requires 6 years’ experience in relevant field, 3 years of which should be in supervisory position(s).

The following competencies are required for the candidates to be successful in this position: extensive knowledge of Revenue Management, revenue process, debtors, suspense and clearing accounts, Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and Treasury Regulations; some experience in customer service would be an added advantage; Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; financial report writing and in possession of a valid driver’s licence with at least one-year practical driving experience will be advantageous and a willingness to travel.

Key Responsibilities will include to:

Assist to manage and report on revenue;

To assist to manage and report on debt and receivables;To assist to ensure accurate management reports are compiled;To assist to produce Generally Recognized Accounting Practices (GRAP) compliant annual financial statements (AFS) and regulatory bodies reports;To assist to manage risk; andTo assist to facilitate human capital development and transformation.Application procedure:1) An application form must accompany the CV together with a letter motivating why the applicant should be favourably considered for this position, and certified qualifications confirming that the minimum qualifications are met (applicants lacking evidence of meeting minimum qualifications and relevant experience will not be considered).
