Purpose of the role:
The Bookkeeper is responsible for overseeing the financial function of our organization by managing financial transactions, producing financial reports, and preparing monthly and quarterly reconciliations for accounts.
The role is responsible for:
Performing meticulous month end reconciliations for both balance sheet and income statement accounts
Managing and overseeing all facets of the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, intercompany payments, recharges and reconciling of the recovery account
Facilitating and overseeing payments to creditors
Providing support for the payroll function
Assisting with the Intercompany loan accounts
Overseeing internal interest schedules
Executing month end journals and rectify general ledger discrepancies
Compiling internal weekly and monthly flash reports
Preparation and submission of monthly management account reports
Generating and distributing budget variance reports to different cost centres
VAT 201 submission, payment, and reconciliation
EMP 201 submission, payment, and reconciliation
Providing the cashflow forecast on cash movement
Assisting in budgeting and forecasting processes
Fixed assets management – verification of assets, labelling of assets and writing off assets
Providing support for tax calculations
Preparing of year-end financial statements
Assisting auditors during interim and year end audits providing necessary documentation, resolving audit issues and ensure audit objectives are met
Performing other duties as required by the Financial Manager
Knowledge, Experience and Personal attributes required:
BCom or related accounting qualification
Professional certification such as SAIPA preferred
Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in a similar role
MS Office and SYSPRO proficiency is a pre-requisite
Strong understanding of financial principles and practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Trustworthy and self-motivated with high levels of personal discipline
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Able to work on own initiative, prioritize work and handle pressure
