INTERNAL & EXTERNAL

The role:

To provide equipment maintenance services and to conduct technical analysis and equipment condition monitoring in a safe and sustainable manner, safely execute maintenance work at an operation as per the engineering strategies, processes, schedules, and work instructions in either opencast or underground environments. Maintaining systems to optimize and maximize production ensuring targets are met.

The duties will include but are not limited to:

Maintain, diagnose faults and repair instruments, equipment and systems, and install equipment and components according to specifications to ensure availability as per set limits
Develop, refine and document appropriate maintenance strategies for specific equipment types
Assist Supervisor with compilation and review of WI’s to ensure maintenance and performance of equipment, 2-way radio system, collision avoidance system.
Model the expected results of maintenance strategies to understand impact on availability, reliability and cost
Update, modify and maintain technical equipment specifications
Assess process failures pattern analysis for relevant equipment types
Conduct Risk assessments, troubleshooting, fault finding, reliability audits on equipment, initiate corrective action and recommend cost effective upgrades
Maintains a clean and safe worksite
Ensures the upkeep of maintenance tools and equipment
Coordinates activities associated with troubleshooting and repairing maintenance equipment
Ensure effective maintenance of relevant equipment and related machinery to ensure optimal utilization and availability toward maximizing production and throughput schedules
Continuously observe and monitor equipment / vehicle / underground equipment performance against standards to identify non- conformances or deviations to the direct Supervisor to ensure defects are followed up and attended to
Identify and report defects, equipment failures and time required to do repairs to the Supervisor to enable applicable decision-making, action planning and problem
The maintenance or repair of instruments / equipment / systems
Ensure optimal asset life through application of good maintenance practices
Coordinates activities associated with trouble-shooting and repairing maintenance equipment
Accesses any area safely to perform necessary maintenance on equipment
Test and commission equipment prior to handover
Perform hands-on maintenance support during breakdowns and shutdowns

You will need:

National Diploma in Instrumentation
Ability to work independent and as a team player
Analytical and a proven ability to solve problems
Computer literacy and SAP
Valid Code 08 driver’s license
In possession or able to obtain a valid Certificate of Fitness

Advantageous:

Couching &Mentoring and Supervisory Development training
Detailed knowledge of general instrumentation on crushers, conveyor belts, stacker/reclaimer and DMS plant
Sound knowledge of PLC/VSD programming and faulty finding specifically on Allen Bradley and Schneider electric products
Sound knowledge of SCADA development and fault finding on FactoryTalk View/Wonderware intouch softwares
Understanding of industrial networking and communication protocol (Devicenet, profibus, Controlnet, Ethernet, Modbus+ etc)
Sound knowledge of environmental monitoring systems specifically Ningi and Guduza
Experience in the mining industry will be advantageous
