CHEP Lead

Role Outline

Centralised Control and Co-ordination of all CHEP pallets within the Consumer & Retail sector

Key areas of responsibility include:

Ensure quality of delivered services and proactively address issues across the sector
Develop strategy and plan for CHEP Pallet Management across the sector
Report on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis on the CHEP account financial performance across the sector
Spend a high proportion of time on site working with the operational team to find efficiencies and cost reduction
Work effectively in a matrix structure with the operations leaders to deliver the day to day solutions and meet the annual and long-term targets
Pro-actively identify opportunities within the CHEP accounts across the sector
Lead account planning meetings to identify supply chain requirements and business objectives
Maintain a theoretical record of all pallets on hand by accurately processing all THAN documents received or dispatched.
Updating the outstanding customer Record card and following up on all outstanding pallets in the trade.
Ensuring all PEN documentation is completed accurately
Request confirmation on each month of Pallet balances from each Transhipment Depots and follow-up on discrepancies.
Liaise with Transport Management and arrange for pallets in the Trade to be recovered.
Ensure that there are sufficient PEN and THAN books in stock.
Continue to audit pallet control procedures on a regular basis across all sites
Check THAN control register and ensure CHEP (SA) personnel endorse register to acknowledge receipt documents.
Arrange a physical count, monthly of all pallets on hand at all depots.
Financial

Own the financial performance of the account – as per the operational, financial and investment plans
Achieve annual financial targets on the account
Manage the P&L of the account to deliver on the agreed target
Be the face of the operational delivery to the customer

Customer Relationship Management

Develop and leverage constructive C-Suite relationships with all the CHEP stakeholders (that are business and issue-based, as opposed to transactional)
Act as key contact for CHEP on a local level
Maintain access to key decision makers

Maintaining

Built and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and establish a customer network on a working level (coach network)
Organize and hold quarterly account review meetings with CHEP
Monitor KPIs, ensure quality standards and performance targets are being met
Act as key contact for CHEP, channel communication to internal functions coordinate actions in case of large operational issues

Team Management/ Coordination

Coordinate the resolution of operational issues and push for process improvements
Collect and share knowledge and best practices (also cross-country)
Review input from opportunity team, ensure quality and commercial standards are met
Act as an interface between customer and DSC internal functions, collect and distribute required information
Solution Designing

  • Analyze collected data together with operational experts and provide strategies for cost saving and efficiency

People Management

  • Direct reports but close collaboration with all Operational Leaders, Procurement and Finance.

Qualifications/ Skills/Competencies/Experiences

Degree or equivalent qualification will be a distinct advantage
More than 3 Years Logistics Sector experience
More than 3 Years CHEP Experience
More than 3 Years Operational experience will be a distinct advantage

Languages

English – verbal and written
