Role Overview:

This Electrical Engineering Internship in Manufacturing at SustainSolar provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring electrical engineers to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges and make a meaningful contribution to our manufacturing operations.

You will work closely with our experienced electrical engineers and technicians to gain practical experience in the design, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and reliability of our manufacturing processes and contribute to the growth of SustainSolar as the leading power systems’ integrator in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Regular interaction with fellow sales team members and colleagues from various departmentsincluding engineering (or R&D), design, finance, business development, project managementalongside senior executives, is expected. This interconnectednessunderscoresthe collaborative nature of the role.

Responsibilities:

Assist in Electrical System Design: Collaborate with the electrical engineering team to design and develop electrical systems for manufacturing equipment and processes. This may involve creating schematics, layouts, and specifying components.

Equipment Maintenance: Participate in routine maintenance activities for electrical systems and equipment to ensure they operate at peak performance. Identify and rectify electrical issues as they arise.

Testing and Troubleshooting: Conduct tests and inspections on electrical systems, circuits, and control panels. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems and assist in implementing solutions.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical system configurations, maintenance activities, andequipment specifications.Update schematics and documentation as needed. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, technicians, and production staff, to support the integration of electrical systems into manufacturing processes.

Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations when working with electrical systems. Promote a safe working environment and report any safety concerns. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on the latest developments and trends in electrical engineering, manufacturing technology, and automation.

Qualifications:

B-Eng ., B-Tech, BSc, or Honours in Electrical, Electronical, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

Proficiency in electrical design software AutoCAD and basic knowledge of PLC programming.

Experience with Solar PV Design tools (e.g. PV Syst, Homer, etc.).

Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably another language such French, Portuguese, Swahili, etc.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and technical software/tools.

Valid driver’s license.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.

Must have a strong academic record.

Possess good work ethic with attention to details.

Eagernessto learn and a proactive attitude.

Previous sales or customer service experience (preferred but not required).
