People Experience Intern

Role Purpose:

The People Experience Intern will support the People Partner on the front line on the full employee life cycle. The Employee Experience Intern will ensure Employees and Line Managers understand the support Model that has been put in place for contact for any queries. This is a factory-based role with exposure to world-class training.

Key Responsibilities:

Pay and Benefits: Assist employees on all benefits queries such as shares, medical aid, calamity loan, Sanlam logins, employees going on Maternity and Paternity. Support employees on Unilever’s Part-time study scheme process by collating applications, loans, reimbursements, informing the Learning Coordinator and informing the Africa Operational Hub team. Support the both the Africa Hub & Benefits team and the factory on the Reward cycles for Annual Pay Reviews.

Factory Engagement: Ensure the factory HR Hubs are fully stocked with all HR documents and application forms, all computer hardware and phones are operational, removal of expired content. Assisting with general employees’ communications and queries including, benefits, Leave, payslips etc. Compile monthly newsletters. Ensure all factory announcements are communicated and on notice boards. Assist on providing employment documents ie. IRP5s, employment confirmation letters etc. where required.

AI Bot: Complete regular AI (Unilever’s digital assistant) audits to ensure the HR content is still applicable and advise relevant stakeholders when amendments need to be made. Ensure all unassigned tickets are distributed amongst the team.
Service Now: Set up Cases, Tasks and transfer to other teams via the Service Now system.
Employee Relations: Sit in as an observer and take notes during grievance, disciplinary and union meetings where necessary.
Recruitment: Support the People Partner in compiling the recruitment report. Sit in as an HR Representative for all Inservice Trainee interviews and support blue collar interviews as and when required. Assist the People Partner in preparing activities before a new hire joins (onboarding). Co-ordinate with relevant factory teams to set-up factory inductions.
Data and Analytics: Complete regular data validation for the factory and inform the EDA team where changes need to take place. Complete all factory-specific general reporting

General: Support factory initiatives from Medical and Occupation Health team and the Learning team from time to time as part of exposure.

Key Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
Over 60% academic average
Must have less than 2 years working experience post studies
A drive to achieve ambitious performance objectives and quality standard
Customer-service mindset

Good with people interaction
