Job Title: Public Relations Officer
Department: Marketing, Media & Communications
Reporting to: Director of Marketing & Director of Football
Location: Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

Job Summary: AmaZulu Football Club is in search of a football loving, experienced, high-performing, articulate, efficient, cool-tempered, well-informed and solutions driven Public Relations Officer who shall formally represent the club in creating and maintaining a positive image. The ideal candidate will be the custodian of AmaZulu Football Club’s public image and community engagements, acting as the spokesperson of the club and supporter’s liaison.

Scope/Responsibilities:

Promoting the interests of AmaZulu Football Club as the Public Relations Officer both on and off the field of play
Develop and establish a PR strategy for AmaZulu Football Club
Develop, rollout and maintain Supporter’s strategy
Serve as the club’s spoke-person.
Establish a close working relationship with the internal Media officer and the marketing team.
Build positive relations with all stakeholders; the supporters, the media, the sponsors and partners and the public.
Frequently track media coverage, follow industry trends, and provide reporting.
Prepare press releases, public statements, keynote speeches on behalf of the club and for club officials, as well as any club promotional (media) material.
Prepare and submit PR reports.
Manage PR challenges
Co-organise Press conferences and PR events with the Media Officer and internal marketing team.
From time to time will be required to travel with the team
REQUIREMENTS:

Essential Criteria
Experience:
Extensive and proven experience in a Public Relations role or similar role. Experience within the football industry and/or within the PSL will be advantageous
Experience working with and managing all media platforms; print, radio, television, all social media platforms
Existing relationships and networks with media houses
Proficient in Microsoft
Background in researching, writing and editing publications
Experience working within a team and co-creating
Experience in public speaking
Experience in spokesmanship
Experience working in a high-pressured, demanding environment
Experience in public relations crisis management
Skills and abilities:
Excellent leadership skills
Self-sufficient and a self-starter
A creative; thinker, communicator and writer
Ability to work well under pressure
Nimble and can think quick on their feet
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Proficient at isiZulu and English. A third language will be advantageous
The ability to motivate and inspire others and delegate responsibly and effectively
The ability to work collaboratively with management, staff, players, supporters and all other stakeholders
The ability to work well under pressure
The ability to identify and solve club media problems as and when they arise
Good organisational and time-management skills.


Qualifications:


A Degree or Diploma in Journalism, PR and/or Communications or any other related field

Desirable Criteria
Experience:


Previous experience in PR within PSL teams
Knowledge and understanding of media rules, laws and regulations of relevant Football Governing Bodies that govern AmaZulu Football Club and ensure that the club is compliant at all times.
