Bookkeeper Required : Dis-Chem Pharmacies – Midrand, South Africa

Job Description

Dis-Chem Pharmacies (Finamics) has an opportunity available for a Bookkeeper at our Head office in Midrand. The main purpose of this role will be to manage full accounting functions for a number of the pharmacies including providing financial and administrative services in order to ensure efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric
Bcom Accounting Degree or relevant qualification
3-5 years’ experience working in an accounting environment with experience in the full accounting function
SAP Experience
Advantageous:

Accounting Honours Degree

Job Specification:

Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation for all bank accounts.
Assist with annual audit for the company and accounts completion.
Oversee banking and any other requirements of management regarding administration and office management.
Review and clear all Clearing accounts and Suspense accounts.
Develop and implement company SOP’s.
Perform reconciliations and correcting accounts – General ledger, journals, etc.
Conduct Intercompany accounting & reconciliations.
Maintain and update the fixed assets register and ensure FAR reconciles to TB monthly.
Complete balance sheet and income statement month-end reconciliations.
Assist with medical aid debtor recons to ensure all monies from medical Schemes are timeously collected.
Prepare cash flow forecasts.
Prepare and upload monthly salary and payroll journals.
Preparation of monthly VAT reconciliation.
Assist with preparing and submitting statutory returns including income tax, provisional tax, VAT, EMP201 and PAYE.
Preparation of monthly VAT reconciliation.
Complete monthly reporting – full management pack as well as any other reports required for strategy formulation.
Assist with SARS statutory registrations for clients.

Competencies

Essential:

IFRS knowledge. Knowledge of Sage 200
Understanding of Accounting Standards, Tax Legislation
English – Read, write and speak well
Able to analyse financial accounts and interpret profitability, liquidity, working capital and timeously identify any indications of financial distress
Decision making and judgment
Problem-solving
Attention to detail and Accuracy
Deadline orientated

Special conditions of employment:
