Job Purpose
The position’s primary role will be to advise on measures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
Job Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Introduction to SAMTRAC or related qualification.
Safety qualification on fire training and accident reporting.
5 years’ experience in the timber industry and safety field.
Experience in identifying training needs and development of safety related training manuals.
Must have a valid code 08 drivers’ licence.
Be willing to work and travel between Roodekop and Stadsrivier Vallei Knowledge of OHS Act 85 of 1993 and the COID Act 130 of 1993. Computer literate.
Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:
Advise business unit management, contractors and safety practitioners on issues pertaining to Occupational Health and Safety as measured against applicable Health and Safety Legislation.
Co-ordinate implementation, maintenance and reporting of applicable Health and Safety Standards and Procedures.
Mentoring SHE Practitioners in identifying SHE related training needs
Provide training to Management on safety related legislation (OHS Act & COID Act)
Compilereportsand liaise with business unit management and safety practitioners on corrective action.
Assist management on risk assessments and fire prevention.
Co-ordinating the servicing and maintenance of fire equipment on an annual basis.
Compile reports, advise and liaise with business unit management and safety practitioners on accident reporting, investigation and corrective actions.
Assist and advice management on security related standards and procedures. Compile monthly Safety report and submit to Risk & Dispatch Manager.
