Job Description

We are seeking a competent Accounts Clerk to join our Head Office Hotels Team. The success candidate will be responsible for performing a range of financial and administrative tasks to support the smooth functioning of the Hotel Accounts department. The role requires proficiency in numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The Accounts Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices and payments, and assisting with various financial reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare verify, and process invoices, purchase orders, and expense claims accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified in the appropriate accounts.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial records on a regular basis.
Assist in creating and maintaining financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Monitor and follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and payables, contacting customers and suppliers as needed to resolve any issues.
Maintain accurate and organized physical and electronic financial records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Assist with month-end and year-end closings, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
Support the Hotel Accounts team in preparing and analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making recommendations for process improvements.
Assist in conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Provide general administrative support to the finance department, such as answering phone calls, responding to emails, and filing documents.

Qualifications and Skills:
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
A tertiary qualification in finance will be an advantage.
Proven experience as an Accounts Clerk or similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Familiarity with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
Knowledge of tax laws and experience in tax preparation is an asset.
Professionalism and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.

Physical Requirements:

The role of an Accounts Clerk may involve extended periods of sitting, working at a computer terminal, and performing tasks that require visual accuracy and manual dexterity.
