Hulamin Is Hiring: Mechanical Technician – South Africa

MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Hulamin is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Camps Drift Hot Rolling department. This position is based in Hulamin Operations Pietermaritzburg.

The core responsibilities of the position include:

Identify potential machine problems and improvements through data analysis.

Maintain data integrity in Maximo through coaching the team and driving accurate data capturing.

Carry out safety, quality, and machine reliability improvement projects.

Partake in machine risk management.

Lead RCA for major equipment failures and manage RCA actions.

Implement and review preventative maintenance schedules.

Provide assistance as required to the artisans especially in the event of significant breakdowns.

Play an active management role during execution of maintenance activities and shutdowns.

Conduct RCM studies on problem areas and propose new or changes to maintenance strategies.

Performs standby duty in the plant to ensure that downtime is minimised.

Play an active role in implementing and improving asset management systems.

The requirements for the position include:

National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Mechanical trade qualification is desirable.

Leadership qualities with the ability to co-ordinate maintenance tasks, shutdowns, and project work.

Maximo experience will be an advantage.

Working knowledge of plant statutory requirements.

Root cause and fault-finding experience.

Key custodian of Problem-Solving initiatives.

Maintain a level of machine expertise ensuring that equipment / system obsolescence issues are dealt with timeously.

Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment is desired.

Knowledge of manufacturing principles.

Excellent computer, data analysis, report writing and presentation skills.

Ability to work with manufacturing teams and interface with all members of the team. Preparedness to work overtime, standby, and shifts when required from time-to-time.
