Sanlam Group Is Recruiting: Intern: Anti-Money Laundering (AML) – South Africa

What will you do?

This role exists in our centralised Sanlam Life and Savings Compliance function where we focus on provision of anti-money laundering/counter terrorism financing and counter proliferation financing support and compliance assurance to the three clusters in Sanlam Life and Savings, i.e., Sanlam Corporate, Sanlam Retail Mass and Sanlam Retail Affluent as well as the Fintech cluster. In this position you will work with the AML specialists in the cluster team who will mentor, guide and support you during the internship period.

Duties will include:

Assist with research and gathering of information on new and existing regulations impacting the financial services industry.

Assist with collation of information and timeous reporting – internal and external stakeholders

Assist with maintenance of Logs, registers and record keeping

Assist with administration of regulatory training as required.

Assist AML Specialists with alignment with Group AML/CFT/Sanctions Policy and Standards, remediation, projects and liaison & co-ordination with the business units

Liaising with internal stakeholders to assist with compliance meetings, training or workshops 

Assist to fulfil MLRO function through assessment, analysis and reporting to FIC, responding to FIC requests timeously in assigned focus area 

Qualification and Experience

Legal or commercial degree.

Computer literate in MS Office which includes Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint and Outlook

A basic understanding and knowledge of the anti-money laundering/counter terrorist financing and proliferation financing regulatory requirements impacting the insurance industry, although not a prerequisite.

Must be between the ages of 18-34

Should not have been already or previously included in another Inseta Internship funded programme.
