Purpose of the position:

The role of the data capturer is to correctly capture HIV and TB data into the monitoring system(s) as per the DCS programme requirements, and ensure timeous data submission of data as per the principles of the THC M&E framework, and the M&E policies and procedures for the DCS and DoH

Minimum Requirements

• Matric• Tier.net data management is essential• Relevant diploma or degree, or at least 2 years relevant experience in lieu of a qualification• 3 years’ experience on data management, data verification and quality assurance• Valid driver’s license• Excellent administrative and organizational skills.• Previous experience within the Correctional services is an advantage• Intermediate level computer skills including MS Office• Proficiency in English, Afrikaans or IsiXhosa languages

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the capturing of all HIV /TB information from primary and secondary source documents • Ensures the timeous submission of data to the Regional Data Monitors • Maintains excellent communication with HAST Counsellors and Health Managers • With the support of the Regional Data Monitor conducts routine audits and data quality checks.• Ensures systematic daily filing of patients’ inmates records including blood results• Regularly attends data verification meetings with the various Correctional Centres.• Responsible for communicating any challenges and or data collection/capturing issues to the Data Monitor as soon as they occur.• Documenting of daily activities and reporting of those activities on a monthly basis to the Data Monitor.

Skills and Competencies

• Capacity to work independently and to work well within a diverse team• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, good time management skills• Good facilitation and communication skills• Able to train users on M&E systems (TIER.net)• Experience with reporting on TB/HIV, PEPFAR indicators and/or DOH statistics
