Job Description
Purpose of the job: To co-ordinate and support health, safety, and food safety within Premier Vereeniging Wheat Mill. To be responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing company’s employee safety at work. The main duty is to ensure that the company complies and adheres to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work-related injuries and ensure compliance with Food Safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Plan and implement SHEQ policies and programs
Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics
Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis
Review existing policies and procedures
Adhere to all the rules and regulations
Work with HR to set up a new employee on-boarding process for safety
Conduct risk assessments
Enforce preventative measures
Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions
Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations
Prepare and present reports on accidents and violations and determine causes
Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees’ safety
Raw material risk assessments updates (Liaison with Food safety officer at HO)
Customer questionnaires completion and update
Non-conformance handling and support – generation, investigating and closure and preventive action.
Plants quality and process support (monitoring and updating calibration schedules)
Quality and legal requirements support
Products and process (BOM) auditing and process verifications
Internal auditing – FSMS
PRP verification program – internal testing programs, allergen verification testing
FSMS gaps and action plan follow up
Liaison with R&D on recipe updates, upgrades and new product pilots, verification, and product validation.
Training support on HSE and FS
Retention samples especially Premix and dry blending management
Drive FS awareness in cross functional Invocoms
Administrative support to QA manager and risk manager
Auditing of SOP training on FS and HSE
Qualification Requirements
Grade 12
SAMTRAC qualification or equivalent
Level 2 fire fighting
Level 1 first aid
Incident Investigation course
Advanced Occupational Health and Safety Act course
Environmental course
Experience Requirements
At least 3 years’ experience in SHE.
FSMS qualifications will be advantageous
Key Outputs

Knowledge in Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and Food Safety legislation.
Standby and after hours availability from time to time
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Network with external stakeholders (Municipal Departments, Council, Police, Fire Department, etc.)
