Job Description
CapeNature Conservation seeks to appoint dynamic persons to assist with ecological data collection, monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, law enforcement, and tourism management at Goukamma NR
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement Eco-Matrix and Integrated Catchment Management
Assist with ecological data collection and monitoring
Assist with invasive alien plant control
Assist with firefighting operations
Assist with environmental education
Assist with the maintenance of all infrastructure
Supervisory and Administrative Duties
Supervise EPWP teams
Implement Annual Plan of operations
Support management in effective management of Protected Area
Do required daily, weekly, and monthly administration work, including issuing permits and receiving money
Assist with control and management of assets
Perform Legal Compliance Quality Assurance and OHS
Carry out law enforcement patrols
Provide support to Conservation Services during law enforcement operations
Assist with search and rescue operations
Implement Occupational Health and Safety policies and guidelines
Do Environmental Control Officer duties
Infrastructure and Equipment
Carry out minor repairs and maintenance of infrastructure.
Assist with maintenance and service of facilities.
Maintain vehicles and equipment
Transport of staff/equipment
Client Care
Assist with Tourism activities
Provide visitors with information and interpretation
Apply basic First Aid
Assist with gate guard duties, including issuing of permits and receipt of money
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications and Experience
Grade 12
At least two years job related experience
A valid driver’s license with at least two years driving experience
Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, QGIS)
Knowledge and experience in ecological monitoring and law enforcement
Knowledge and experience in Fire Fighting with Crew Boss level or higher qualification
No criminal record

Willingness to work weekend shifts and irregular hours
Physical ability to perform field ranger duties
Strong analytical, strategic, and creative problem-solving skills
Knowledge and experience in working with tourists, maintenance of infrastructure, and law enforcement
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
Good project planning and organizing skills
Ability to function independently and within a team
Computer literacy plus advanced proficiency in MS-Office
Use of QGIS software
Recommendation:
Possession of a valid Peace Officer’s certificate, Fisheries Control Officer (FCO), EMI certification, or a type of enforcement experience
National Diploma in Nature Conservation
Chainsaw & Brushcutter operator certificates
15 Nautical Mile skippers will be an added advantage
