A CROSS-BORDER Munenzva luxury coach bound for Johannesburg in South Africa was on Thursday involved in a fatal accident near Bubi.
The accident was caused by a tyre burst.
According to a Facebook post by Munenzva Luxury Coaches, the accident that resulted in the loss of lives was “due to a mechanical fault.”
“We are sad to announce that one of our joburg bound bus had an accident earlier today (Thursday) due to a mechanical fault we sympathise with those who lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to those that got injured,” read the brief statement.
The bus company’s spokesperson, identified as Idah Mukucha, told HourlyHits.com that details of the accident were still sketchy at the time of publishing.
“As we speak, the main depot still has sketchy details on what happened. The accident was caused by a tyre burst.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and may our valued passengers please bear with us at this difficult moment,” said Mukucha.
She could not state the number of passengers killed or injured.
Police were also not immediately available for a comment.
