Over 30 test positive for Covid-19 at a Marondera school

OVER thirty (30 ) people including school children have tested positive for Covid-19 at Godfrey Huggins Primary School in Marondera.

These include seven members of staff and at least 23 pupils.

Marondera district medical officer Dr Delight Madoro confirmed the development saying all those who tested positive were now in isolation as per Covid-19 guidelines for schools.

“Today, 23 children and seven staff members at Godfrey Huggins Primary School have tested positive and all are in isolation, on medication and in good spirits,” he said.

“Those pupils who tested positive are all boarders and their parents were contacted. According to Ministry of Health and Child Care protocols, boarders can only be collected by their parents after 10 days of isolation.”

Zimbabwe recorded 4 872 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, and 232 of these were in Mashonaland East Province.

“As at 13 December 2021, Zimbabwe had 172 012 confirmed cases, including 129 951 recoveries and 4 740 deaths.

“To date, a total of 3 966 929 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19,” said the Ministry of Health and Child Care in a situational update.
