Fixed Asset Accountant: BBF Safety Group
FIXED ASSET ACCOUNTANT
(6-MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Fixed Asset Accountant that has arisen within the Finance Department at BBF Safety Group in Pinetown. The Fixed Asset Accountant will report to the Financial Manager and will have amongst others, the following duties and responsibilities:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitate the fixed asset verification process across all divisions/branch plants, with specific focus on the existence and completeness assertions;
Ensure that all assets are tagged;
Establish the validity, accuracy and completeness of the accounting and tax registers on JDE;
Maintain fixed assets master data on JDE, ensuring that descriptions, asset tag numbers and locations of assets are appropriatelyrecorded;
Mapping of work flow processes for fixed assets;
Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets;
Record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals on JDE;
Run monthly depreciation and wear and tear for all fixed assets;
Reconcile the balance in the fixed assets subsidiary ledgers to the trial balance; Perform transfers of fixed assets between divisions/branch plants where necessary; Review annual useful lives of assets;
Calculate budget depreciation and wear and tear projections for divisions/branch plants;
Assist finance team in the completion of their tax packs in respect of fixed assets (including but not limited to wear and tear calculations)
Qualifications & Experience: Non-Negotiables:
B Com/ Honours in Financial Accounting
O A minimum of 3 years of functional working experience (fixed asset and wear and tear calculation experience)
Sound knowledge of tax rules related to fixed assets 00 Valid driving licence and own vehicle o No fear of driving / travelling o Available to start immediately Advantageous:
