Stellenbosch Municipality Is Hiring: Senior Electrician
The successful incumbent will be required to perform duties in the WCO24 and within the
Electricity section where and when service is required.
Minimum Requirements: •Grade 12 (NQF4) • N3- Electrical Engineering •Completed recognised
Trade Test as Electrician• Qualification in high voltage operations and construction (switching,
phasing, fault finding and safety)• Code B drivers licence • 3-5 years relevant post
apprenticeship experience
Other requirements: Certified for Hydraulic Crane• First Aid Certificate (will be a
recommendation) • Ability to handle hydraulic lifting and pneumatic, high voltage pressure
testing and cable fault finding equipment• Supervisory skills• Ability to communicate in at least
2 of the 3 official languages of the Western Cape• Human relations and communication skills•
Ability to give attention to detail• High level of responsibility•Ability to work under pressure
without tolerance for errors ●supervisory capabilities
Added advantage: Experience as a senior electrician in a municipality ●12 months in a
supervisory position.
Responsibilities/Duties: • Co-ordinates and controls the set-up, work in progress and completion
of specialised tasks/activities associated with high/medium/low voltage electrical installation,
maintenance and repairs including, monitoring and correcting support personnel productivity
and performance and attending to routine/general administrative recording requirements
contributing to the accomplishment of departmental objectives •Coordinates activities and
sequences associated with the maintenance and construction of power network systems and
electrical equipment • Coordinates activities associated with the construction and installations
of electrical distribution networks • Interprets and co-ordinates specific activities with regards to
electrical repairs, planned and predictive maintenance and construction sequences and guides
the activities of subordinates • Perform specific administrative tasks/activities associated with the
updating and maintaining of records/information • Performs specific tasks associated with the
operation of vehicles and equipment during electrical repair and maintenance activities
