Soccer Laduma and Kick Off, under the SNL24 banner, are on the lookout for committed, passionate and dynamic seasoned writer to contribute with daily content.
You’ll be joining an expanding and highly successful team. This is an opportunity to not only work with, but also to learn from the team the two leading soccer publications.
The role requires the candidate to work from the Cape Town head office in the Western Cape.
Responsibilities:
Produce well-written content every day.
Adhere to Soccer Laduma and Kick Off’s policies.
Work with management and editorial team to develop and maintain an effective editorial team.
Responsible in helping to grow Soccer Laduma and Kick Off’s properties.
Work closely with the content managers/editors.
Conduct interviews.
Write original and researched stories and areas of interest.
Be willing to contact players, supporters, agents, coaches or other stakeholders for exclusive content.
Be able to use social media.
Must be able to follow KPA structures and self-evaluation structures.
Contribute to weekly team-brainstorming sessions to collectively conceptualise and develop top quality content.
Requirements:
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in journalism and/or communications.
Writing experience.
Tertiary education in English, journalism or communications is ideal.
Ability to write concisely.
Excellent written, grammar and communication skills.
Professional work ethic.
Independent worker.
Keen interest in learning and developing his/her writing and football knowledge.
Open to trying out new ideas.
Social media literate.
Dedicated and hard working.
Must be able to work under pressure and deal with deadlines.
Must be able to fill out reports.
Attention to detail and project deadlines.
Must be seeking a career in media.
A passion for local and international football.
Deep understanding and knowledge of international football.
