Position Summary

Perfection is at the heart of what we do, and our people are always looking for the next big idea to cement our status. We are now looking for an Electrician to be based in Babelegi Factory. 

In this role you will be responsible to Install and maintain electrical equipment in first class working condition. Ensure efficient operation of machinery by setting and adjusting devices to within allowed tolerances. All work carried out on premises must conform to SABS code 0142-1987 (wiring of premises). Fault finding and attending to breakdowns. Complete the necessary job cards and motor checklist. To be actively involved with new projects and installations.

A day in the life of an Electrician:

Attend to electrical faults and breakdowns in the factory.

Attend to electrical faults and breakdowns in admin buildings.

Faultfinding on electrical equipment.

Faultfinding on PLC’s.

Programming and faultfinding on VSD’’s.

Programming and faultfinding on instrumentation and calibration.

Faultfinding on electrical machines on running processes.

Analyzing and investigating on re-current faults.

Repairs must be carried quickly (first time right) and efficiently.

Maintain high standard of work.

Ensure machine availability for production targets to be met.

Incumbent must be pro-active and prevent breakdowns on his/her patrols and shows initiative to continuously improve equipment performance.

Install, service, repair and maintain existing and new equipment.

Follow up and recommend actions to overcome and improve problems encountered.

Undertakes to work shift and standby as per company requirements.

Electrical panels must be closed and always locked and kept in a neat and clean condition.

Lock out procedure to be always used when any person could be exposed to danger by the inadvertent starting of machinery.

Any dangerous conditions must be made safe immediately.

Product safety to be always ensured.

To correct errors on drawings and update drawings.

Complete the necessary job cards and motor checklist.

Complete the necessary forms and log sheets accurately after completion of work.

Actively involved in CDM activities

Interact with production people.

Interact with suppliers.

Interact with contractors.

What will make you successful?

· At least a min N3 Certificate

· Served Apprenticeship and qualified with a Trade Test Certificate.

· A minimum of two year’s experience in Electrical field

· Good interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and under pressure.

 · Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

· Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.

· Working knowledge of PLC’s

· Change Management

· Team player

· Coaching and mentoring of production staff on electrical equipment
