Job Purpose

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to drive motor vehicles to transport passengers and other items (e.g. mail and documents).

Minimum Requirements

Junior Certificate (Grade 10) or equivalent qualification; A minimum of 1 year relevant experience; A valid code 10 (or higher) driving licence with a valid professional Driving Permit (PrDP).

Recommendation

Able to carry heavy boxes to load vehicles. 

Key Performance Areas

Driving a vehicle; Do routine maintenance on the allocated vehicle and report defects; Complete the required and prescribed records and logbooks with regards to the vehicle and the goods handled; Render a clerical support/messenger service; Handle library material.  

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Driving a code 10 truck and medium to light type vehicles; Road rules; Vehicle maintenance. Skills in the following: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc); Communication skills (written and verbal); Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Remuneration

R 183 279 per annum (Salary level 4)

Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
