Job Purpose:

The Assistant Merchandise Planner provides assistance to: Merch team; Marketing; E-Commerce; Finance; Shipping; Operations and assist with general queries. Provide reports which as requested by the Merch team and other departments whilst providing store support. Ensure all promotions are loaded on time and to capture local and import purchase orders, as well as timeously track and query late or short deliveries and assist the warehouse with dispatch instructions.

Experience in retail merchandising tools and Microsoft tools/applications such as Excel and Outlook
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with all levels within an organisation
Able to interpret numerical data & computer literacy
Able to multi-task and prioritise time/workload effectively
Highly driven and motivated
Imaginative and creative in identifying workable solutions
Taking responsibility for development and have a hunger for autonomy and accountability
Passionate about retail
Problem solving skills & ability to work under pressure

Job Responsibilities:

Capturing orders
New Product loading
Masterfile Amendments
Replenishment of stock to stores nationwide & cross border
Distribution of stock to stores nationwide & cross border
Liaise with Store Managers regarding queries on stock
Verifying accuracy and completeness of data and correcting entered data, if needed
Contact with supplier daily on orders and outstanding orders
Communicate with buyers and planners on status of orders
Run & Export Various financial & Sales reports
Load promotions (Ad HOC; Monthly & Catalogues)

General:

To undertake all mandatory training as required and participate in appropriate in-service training as and when required
Maintaining the strict confidentiality of all information acquired especially with regard to trade procedures, policies, system data, and all company information and assets
To undertake an appraisal and personal development review quarterly and through self-development, continuously update and improve knowledge and competencies
To take responsibility for being up to date with current policies and procedures and to adhere to these
Co-operating fully in the introduction of any new technology and new methods as appropriate
To undertake any other relevant duties requested by the Buyers, Directors and Senior Management
All of the above tasks and responsibilities are a summary of the typical functions of the job and may not be exhaustive of all possible responsibilities, tasks and duties of the Assistant Merchandise Planner. The Assistant Merchandise Planner will be required to perform any other tasks necessary for the conduct of the employer’s business, as the employer may from time to time direct.
Desired Qualification and Experience:

A Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or at least 2 years experience in Retail Planning if currently completing a qualification.
