Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Cost and Management Accountant is required to coordinate and compile the annual budget, assist management in monitoring programme and cost centre expenditure against budget and provide monthly analysis and commentary on all programme management account reports.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Compile and communicate an annual budget process document to coordinate budget activities for the entity.
Research on budget parameters and current variables to aide an informed costing of budget items
Prepare and distribute the annual budget template and timetable.
Prepare and distribute budgeting tools for programmes and company as a whole.
Schedule sessions with company -wide managers to determine budget requirements for the forthcoming financial year.
Ensure the business units are budgeting accurately and budgets are captured into the system accurately.
Consolidate budget inputs from all directorates into a budget proposal for submission to the Budget Committee.
Consolidate the company programme budgets.
Review budget inputs with individual managers following feedback from Budget Committee.
Finalise the Annual Budget for submission to the Board according to the planning framework schedule.
Budgeting and Financial Reporting
Ensuring that company meets its Budget reporting requirements to Management, Board and other relevant bodies.
Maintain records of final monthly management accounts, quarterly reports and budgets.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

BCom Accounting degree
BCom Honours specializing in Management Accounting will be advantageous.
At least 5 years relevant experience, with 2 to 3 years preferably in public sector
Professionally registered with CIMA, SAICA-AGA(SA) and ITC preferable.
