Purpose of Job
Execute shutdown planning functions, including the interpretation of shutdown scope and the breakdown thereof into individual activities. Coordinate shutdown activities through the application of planning and resource scheduling tools, techniques, and activities. Develop shutdown schedules in conjunction with Operations and Maintenance and Shutdown Contractors. Gather data and prepare resource loading of schedules. Capture key milestones, start dates, and end dates. Identify critical paths and float. Assist in progress reporting against baseline. Ensure Shutdown projects are captured on EIS. Alert shutdown team to concerns of potential deviations. Provide up-to-date feedback on shutdown activities during shutdowns. Assist in resolving resource re-allocation and make new plans to protect critical paths during shutdowns.

Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the scope of the shutdown and actively participate in the successful execution of the shutdown. Compile shutdown schedules in planning software. Develop with the Shutdown Management Team a shutdown’s critical path, activities, and resources required to execute a successful shutdown. Develop baseline schedules through the Interactive Planning Session with the SD project team. Utilise schedule performance data in the updating and forecasting of schedules. Incorporate Contractors schedules into project schedules for tracking overall status. Develop and update S-curves for Engineering, Procurement and Construction work based on resource-loaded schedules. Provide oversight of EC Contractor planning activates. Compile detail shutdown plans, BU consolidated plans, and resource plans. Prepare status reports according to agreed reporting calendar. Implement and maintain tools which will provide the information necessary for the shutdown teams to realistically plan and accurately assess status as it relates to labour hour budgets, progress and earned value. Execute duties in accordance with procedures and strategies to ensure reliability with respect to planning information. Ensure no revisions are made to baseline schedule until written approvals are obtained per shutdown management and Change Management Procedures during shutdowns. Revise schedules according to change approvals. Ensure all approval and review processes are followed according to procedures and policies. Ensure agreed upon reporting requirements are delivered against deadlines. Apply evidence-based SHE practices in alignment with set standards for safe operations. Implement Sasol Group’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enable the achievement of operational excellence. Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals.

Formal Education
Grade 12 with Maths and Science and relevant Occupational Trade Qualification (NQF4)

5 years in maintenance or project/shutdown planning environment
