Job Description
Transport and/or deliver products, materials, (and sometimes staff) securely to areas where they are needed
Guarantee that products and/or equipment are protected and secured at all times
Be willing to drive long distances, in compliance with company’s travel management plan.
Assist with loading and off-loading of equipment.
Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to and from places as instructed by supervisor or the manager.
Ensure that vehicles are kept in good condition and clean at all times by washing both the inside and outside parts of the vehicle.
Carry out routine checks on vehicles and ensure they are sound
Recognize electrical and mechanical faults and report to the employer or technician.
Report any instance of mishap or accident to the manager or supervisor.
Ensure periodic maintenance on vehicles.
Report any case of accident, injury or damage of vehicles to the supervisor or manager.
Keep all records, including receipts for vehicle maintenance.
Keep up a travel log to record areas travelled to, travel time, and work hours
Be presentable at all times.
To ensure that speed limits are observed at any given time
To comply with the laws and company regulations regarding the use of mobile phones, smoking in company vehicles and the use of prohibited equipment (such as games consoles) whilst on duty
To be responsible for the health, safety, security, welfare, environmental and fire safety arrangements for yourself and colleagues.
To always behave in a friendly and professional way towards colleagues and other stakeholders
To drive the Company’s vehicles in a safe, legal and professional way
To comply with company’s driver agreement, travel management plan and all other related policies and procedures
To drive to the set timetable, not running early or late, when it is safe to do so
Qualifications
Grade 12
Driver License, Preferably Code EC with PDP
Mechanical qualification & experience will be advantageous.
Electrical qualification & experience will be advantageous.
Clear criminal record
Additional Information
A driver must ensure that:
Driver’s license is valid for the vehicle type
Driver’s license has the required medical renewals up to date
Professional Driving Permit (PDP) is up to date and renewed on time
Any change to the license which may affect their entitlement to drive is communicated to their line manager (e.g. Sickness, injury or conviction).
Their license is made available for inspection in every 6-month period.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
Assist with stock tacking of equipment when required.
Assist with any other tasks in the Support Services Department when required
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager
