Job Summary

Purpose: Provisioning of social services and support to children, families, Government representatives and South African courts with regards to a

full range of social services and related social welfare matters.

Key Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the South African context within which social services function and are delivered.
  • Understanding of social development in terms of the needs, policies and the role of the Social Auxiliary Worker.
  • Basic knowledge of human behaviour, relationship systems and social issues and the ability to address social needs using appropriate Social Auxiliary Work methods and techniques.
  • The skills to work as a team member and as a provider of support services to the Social Work team.
  • How to deal with emotional trauma, emotional stress, recreational needs, social needs in children.

Counselling and referral processes Knowledge:

  • Facilitation of non-therapeutic processes;
  • Child development processes;
  • Social work administration processes;
  • Social Work – Methods and principles;
  • Communication and Life Skills in Social Auxiliary Work;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the South African context within which social services function and are delivered;
  • Understanding of social development in terms of the needs, policies and the role of the Social Auxiliary Worker;
  • Basic knowledge of human behaviour, relationship systems and social issues and the ability to address social needs using appropriate Social Auxiliary Work methods and techniques;

Further Position Skills:

  • Render basic counselling and support;
  • Support the counselling processes;
  • Support the processes to intervene with individuals and families; and
  • Facilitate educational, life skills and support group programs.

Facility Supervision Responsibilities

  • To perform all administrative functions on behalf of the Foundation in respect of all children;
  • Receipt of/and organizing and completing necessary documentation, monitoring matter/action of all children;
  • Communicating with relevant stakeholders in the course of matter/project/task management in respect of all children;
  • Preparing documents for meetings in respect of all children;
  • Follow up on action items in respect of all children;
  • Compilation of reports as instructed in respect of all children;
  • Supervision of childcare workers employed;
  • Supervision of consumables and related and supply; and
  • Supervision of all daily plans in place for the foundation i.e. meal, education, play, hygiene.

Minimum requirements:

Social Work qualification;Registration with SACSSPProficient in MS Office (MS Word; PowerPoint; Excel and Outlook);Candidate must be a quick learner and have the ability to work independently;Excellent communication skills;Work to deadlines is essential;
